Special delivery for Jordan (2002)
Eddie Jordan’s eponymous team scored a sponsorship deal with German logistics company DHL in 2002. So for the launch of the Jordan EJ12, the media were invited an aircraft hangar in Brussels. So for so normal, save for the unusual location. Then the control tower announced that there was a special delivery for Eddie, and a huge DHL cargo 747 promptly appeared, before spewing from its cargo bay the new Formula 1 car. “Safe and sound, delivered by DHL”, quipped Eddie. Always the showman. The team finished sixth in the season, with nine points and no podium finishes.
