Honda’s Earth Dreams (2007)
Formula 1 isn’t the first thing the general public when it thinks about saving the planet, but Honda wanted to change that. So for the 2007 unveiling of the RA107, the Japanese company hired out London’s Natural History Museum and surprised the attending media by pulling back the covers on a car that had no sponsor logos on it at all. Instead, the design showed Planet Earth against the black of space, and a web address plugging Honda’s My Earth Dream website. It was all very worthy and a massive break from the norm. But unfortunately the car was rubbish, and Honda finished in eighth place for the season.
