The Nissan R90CK is here for one reason only – its pole position lap in qualifying for the 1990 Le Mans 24 Hours. The car’s 3.5-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 was designed to produce 1000bhp, but a pair of stuck wastegates meant it was actually pushing out 1100bhp, making an already ridiculously quick machine even more insane. Driver Mark Blundell somehow tamed the snorting beast to smash it onto pole, despite the team telling him to abort the lap due to the malfunctioning turbos. What a hero.
