9. Schumacher gets a comeback pole position (2012)
Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher had been a shadow of his former self after coming out of retirement, but 2012 gave us a final glimpse of his talent. The German nailed pole position for the race with a spectacular lap in his Mercedes. Sadly an unrelated penalty meant he started down in sixth. He retired again at the end of the season.
