5) It’s nailed rallying
Alpine was born of Rédélé’s rally aspirations, and even the name comes from his success in the 1954 Coupe des Alpes rally. In the 1960s Alpine cars were so successful at rallying that they were allocated the whole Renault rally budget, and by the ‘70s the cars were hugely dominant. Alpines formed the entire podium for the 1971 Rally Monte Carlo, then again in 1973 and won the inaugural World Rally Championship that same year. The A110 and A310 were the cars to beat and remain iconic in rally circles to this day.
