10. Maserati MC12
(Season 6, Episode 2)
A personal favourite to many fans, and not just because it bumped the Ferrari Enzo on which it was based from the top spot of the leader board (something many considered impossible at the time). For starters, the MC12 looks utterly mental and yet somehow beautiful, as any self-respecting Maserati has a tendency to do. It also boasted a 620bhp 6-litre V12 that created a noise that could only be described as ‘confusing’. It was also lunatically fast through the corners and on the straight. It would be some years before crankandpiston.com experienced the MC12 first-hand, but 1m 18.9s was as good as any place to start.
