When you watch Formula 1, you’ll see a phalanx of people surrounding the drivers. Of these, perhaps the most important is the trainer, the man or woman that ensures the drivers are in the best physical shape possible to race.
F1 is a very physically demanding sport, so anything less than physical perfection can mean seconds lost, and the difference between winning and losing.
Filmmaker Mario Muth has sat down with Mark Arnall, trainer to the likes of Mika Hakkinen and Kimi Raikkonen, for a fascinating chat about what the trainer does and how his role affects the way drivers perform.
