But such was the state of affairs when nine off-road specialists went head-to-head for the third annual Red Bull Frozen Rush through the mountains of Maine, an event ultimately won by defending champion Bryce Menzies who just pipped 2014 title winner Ricky Johnson to the chequered flag. In order to get the speeds up to proper sphincter-puckering levels, specially designed Mud-Terrain tires from BFGoodrich were used, each of which houses 700 metal studs for greater (née, any) grip. The entire event though had been under threat of cancellation when an unseasonably mild winter left very little snow to construct the course.
