The latest model in the Lamborghini Huracán range – speculated to be the hardcore Superleggera – makes its testing debut at the Nürburgring.
Is this the new Lamborghini Huracán Superleggera?
Footage has been leaked of two Lamborghini mules being tested at the Nürburgring, each wearing a more aggressive aerodynamic kit than the base model. Though the camouflage paint tries its best to conceal it, as well as the new fixed rear wing, the speculated-to-be Superleggera also receives larger front air intakes, a revised front splitter, a larger rear diffuser, and new twin exhausts akin to Lamborghini’s Huracán GT3 racer.
There’s also a deeper, much dirtier soundtrack involved too, suggesting a modest increase in power and torque for the 5.2-litre V10. While the four-wheel drive LP 610-4 boasts 602bhp and 413lb ft, and the rear-wheel drive LP 580-2 delivers 572bhp and 397lb ft, Lamborghini’s principal rivals leapfrog this considerably. The McLaren 675LT packs a solid 666bhp from its 3.8-litre twin-turbo V8, similar to the Ferrari 488 GTB’s 661bhp from its 3.9-litre twin-turbo V8. Expect then the Superleggera to bring at least an additional 40-50bhp to the table upon its global debut, mooted to be at this year’s Paris Motor Show in September.
The new Superleggera marks the final member of the Huracán family, with former Lamborghini chief executive Stefan Winkelmann stating that there would be ‘at least five’ members of the family when the RWD LP 580-2 was launched late last year. Throw in the LP 610-4 coupe, the Huracán Spyder that arrived early this year, and the GT3 racer that started its career in the Blancpain GT Series last year, and there’s your five.
