Clearly Toyota is not pissing around in 2016. Having seen their driver and manufacturer championships drop to relatively new rivals Porsche, and with not a single victory to their name all season last year (a bookending pair of thirds in Silverstone and Bahrain would be their best result), there are, as the below teaser video explains, ‘barriers to be broken’ and ‘fears to overcome’. Failure is clearly not an option in 2016…
Indeed, the newly renamed Toyota Gazoo Racing has no time for left-filed breakfasts and has already unveiled a new livery for the year ahead in-keeping with the ‘Gazoo’ brand. The brand new TS050 Hybrid comes complete with a new monocoque and with a more powerful hybrid system than last year (8MJ), and rumour has it the turbocharged V8 has been ditched in favour of a turbocharged V4 akin to the setup Porsche used last year to scoop the big prize and victory at Le Mans. The TS050 Hybrid will run for the first time during testing at Aragon at the end of the month. After all, ‘failures are meant to be faced’…
