Canadian Mats Baribeau gives his thoughts, and unveils the livery of his Toyota Chaser JZX90, ahead of his debut Formula Drift season in 2013.
Chances are, if you look for most motorsport driver interviews, the same phrase will pop up somewhere: ‘at one with the car’. Ayrton Senna referred to this phenomena when he qualified for the 1988 Monaco Grand Prix two seconds faster than anyone else, as did five-time Formula 1 Champion Juan-Manuel Fangio when he won – at insane speeds on the daunting Nordschleife – the 1954 German Grand Prix from a supposedly impossible 45s down.
Now it’s the turn of Mats Baribeau as he embarks on his debut Formula Drift season. The Canadian has already unveiled the new black and gold livery on his Toyota Chaser JZX90 for the season ahead, and has also set up a new facebook page, on which a new web series focusing on the season will be run intermittently.
In this video, Baribeau explains his thoughts ahead of his Formula D debut, and ‘the chills down his spine that these will bring’. Witness a dream coming true here.
