The new V60 and S60 Polestars make their debut after weeks of teasers.
[Not a valid template]Polestar Racing has unveiled its new V60 and S60 performance models, following a teaser clip released last week.
Based on the latest generation Volvo S60 saloon and V60 estate, the new additions are the start of an extended production range from Polestar Racing, Volvo’s performance arm. Both 60 models follow on from the already established C30 and S60 Concept models from the motorsport outfit.
Powered by Volvo’s new six-cylinder turbo-charged T6, part of the Swedish company’s new Drive-E engine architecture, each unit produces 350hp and 369lb ft of torque thanks to a new twin-scroll turbo and intercooler. Mated with a six-speed automatic gearbox (which comes complete with paddle shifters) and Haldex four-wheel drive system, the V60 will hit 0-100kph in 4.9 seconds and a 250kph top speed.
Notable differences to the aerodynamics over the standard Volvo models include new front splitters, rear spoilers and diffusors to optimising the airflow underneath the car and increase downforce respectively. Boasting 80 per cent stiffer springs for improved handling (relative to the standard S60 R-Design), the S60 and V60 Polestars also boast Öhlins shock absorbers and 20-inch Polestar wheels for greater road holding.
Though not set for release in the Middle East, the new V60 and S60 Polestars are expected to land in the UK, the USA and Canada, Japan, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Volvo’s Swedish home market. Delivery is expected to take place in June next year.
