Youcef Cummings along with a chap called Chris Wishart were the first guy’s I met when I moved to Dubai. If I remember rightly Youcef had noticed my ramblings about moving to Dubai on a Porsche Forum and mentioned that I should pop down and say hey at one of the regular track day meets that had started happening at the Autodrome.
Youcef had one of the coolest 964 3.6 Turbo’s possible and we had a good old chats about all things Porsche and used to hook up at most Track weekends. Then out of the blue he moved to Oman and sadly disappeared from the Dubai car scene. However thanks to the modern wonders of Facebook we have been chatting recently and he mentioned his motox endurance adventures and his desire to enter the Dakar. So here we are…

Youcef is a veteran of motor racing to say the least and has been racing on two and four wheels for many years. He has competed in state level enduro racing, 500c open class as a junior and on the international arena both as an athlete cyclist and a driver.

A truly stunning picture of Youcef on his mighty KTM during the UAE Desert Challenge.

Sadly as you may or may not be aware Dakar have pulled the plug on bikes above 450cc. How this will effect Youcef’s dream is yet to be fully understood.
As more news comes through we will be following the Dakar Dream and will be keeping you all posted.
